Course Aims

This qualification outlines the reasons for safe entry and working in Confined Spaces and the legal requirements. Learners will develop an understanding of how risk assessments can improve safety, the theory of safe entry and working and how to reduce the risk of harm.

Who is this course suitable for?

This qualification is suitable for individuals requiring to raise their awareness of the risks of Working in Low Risk Confined Spaces and for those that are employed in the control and supervision of others who are working in confined space and need to develop safe systems of work including risk assessments and Permit to Enter systems.

The Objectives of the qualification are:

  • to benefit learners through developing their understanding of the hazards and risks associated with Confined Space entry work:
  • Prepare to enter and work safely in low risk confined spaces
  • Follow procedures and work safely
  • Deal with emergencies
  • Work with others
  • Use general knowledge for working in low risk confined spaces and their environments
  • Increase understanding of the purpose of Risk Assessments as part of a Safe system of Work
  • Achieve competence in the control measures for Low Risk Confined Space work

Pre-Requisites 

Candidates must: 

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Have a valid medical test on their file or be able to provide proof of a valid (in-date) medical test.
  • Have sufficient command of the English Language.
  • Be in a passable level of physical fitness, due to the physicality of this course no matter the level being tested for. 
  • Bring photographic ID with them to the first day of the course.
