Course Aims

This course aims to provide:

  • Stronger knowledge and understanding of how to use a Turnmag Spinner, Rock Drill and Spannex Gun
  • An opportunity to learn these skills in a reduced-risk environment.

Who is this course suitable for?

Delegates who are required to operate various items of Small Plant and Tools as part of their duties.

Course Objectives

On completion of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Undertake inspection and pre-start checks
  • Perform starting and stopping procedures
  • Demonstrate the safe use of the tool
  • State how to deal with defective equipment
  • State the safety requirements for the refuelling of small plant

PRE-REQUISITES

Delegates must be at least 16 years of age.

Would all candidates please ensure they bring with them their National Insurance Number together with 2 from the following; Company ID, Passport, Driving Licence or some other form of photographic identification.

Candidates are required to bring High Visibility Clothing to include High Visibility (HV) orange upper body clothing to BS EN 471:2003    class 2 as a minimum (HV tabard); and HV orange lower body clothing to BS EN 471:2003 class 1 as a minimum (HV trousers or HV over trousers), PPE incl. Hard Hat, and Safety footwear (Incl ankle protection, not rigger boots).  Eye protection must conform to BS EN166 (safety goggles of Grade 1 impact standard (now EN166B) and gloves.

-    Hand Protection to EN 388:2016 Level C as minimum. (Cut 5) Close cuffed.
-    Ear Protection to EN352 standard

Please advise of any additional needs within a learning environment, such as Dyslexia, amongst candidates in advance of the course.

All candidates must arrive to training centre in good time, and in fit to work condition.
