Course Aims
This assessment is to be undertaken after a 12 month period of competence for experienced SSOWPs or mentor period for new SSOWPs. The course aims to assess the competence of Safe System of Work Planner to ensure they are carrying out duties safely.
Course Objectives
On successful completion of stage 1 Candidates will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the requirements for planning routine safe systems of work
- Proceed towards Stage 2
On successful completion of stage 2 candidates will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the requirements for planning safe systems of work for a wide range of activities on the railway
Additional Information
Photographic ID must be presented, as well as valid PTS.
Evidence generated from SSOW Planning carried out over the past 12 month period or mentor period.
Previous evidence of at least 2 Line Blockage and 2 Open Line submissions as a minimum requirement
Access code to interact with GZAC/On-Trac.
Evidence of at least 4 SSOW packs and at least 2 site visits relating to planning duties recorded on your work experience log.
The competence requires to be recertified every 24 months and an interim assessment completed.
Pre-Requisites
Meet the Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/0120 (Drugs & Alcohol). A valid D&A must be on Sentinel.
Meet the medical requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/00124 Competence Specific Fitness Medical Requirements and Network Rail Standard NR/L1/OHS/051 (Drugs & Alcohol).
Please advise of any additional needs within a learning environment, such as Dyslexia, amongst candidates in advance of the course.
Must Bring Photo ID - For British Nationals, one of the following (original hard copy - not electronically): a current and valid branded form of identity token, used for accessing the RMI (Railway Maintained Infrastructure) such as a Sentinel Card; in-date and valid full driving licence; in-date and valid UK Provisional Photo Card Driving Licence; in-date and valid passport, a UK biometric ID Card/Residence Permit (BRP), an Armed Forces Identity Card, a proof of age card recognised under PASS with a unique reference number (this includes the Citizen ID Card), N.I. Electoral Identity Card or a resident permit as per Home Office guidance.
For Non-British Nationals - an in-date and valid passport, Identity Card or Driving Licence from an EU or European Economic Area (EEA) country or a US Passport Card is required (original hard copy - not electronically).
