Course Aims

The aim of the Rope Access Familiarisation course is to provide an understanding of the legislation, regulations and practical aspects of IRATA Rope Access work.

Who is this course suitable for?

This familiarisation course is suitable for managers of rope access operatives, compliance and health & safety personnel or anyone else that feels this would be beneficial to their work.

There are no pre-requisites for Rope Access familiarisation however a reasonable level of physical fitness and a "head for heights" is advised.

Course Objectives

The course content will provide an understanding of:

  • IRATA Legislation and guidelines
  • Equipment used
  • Knots and rigging
  • Manoeuvres and techniques
  • Work restraints

Additional Information

This one day course is delivered through a combination of classroom and practical work.

All safety gear is provided for this course, but candidates may bring their own hard hat for hygiene purposes if they so wish.
