QTS Safety Critical Communications

This workshop is designed to give existing IWA’s or COSS’s a refresher on Railway Safety Critical Communications (SCC) protocols and techniques, and reinforces that clear communications help to avoid misunderstandings and develop strong relationships with co-workers.

The workshop includes a PowerPoint presentation that reinforces and refreshes the delegates existing knowledge and understanding of the Railway Safety Critical Communications protocols e.g. when making an Emergency Call or moving trains within a worksite.

A practical demonstration is included on making an Emergency Call in a controlled learning environment.

Throughout the course there are a number of practical exercises which involve the participation of all delegates.

The workshop focuses on helping the delegates negotiate communication hazards in the workplace, reducing the likelihood of error in communication and helping them to perform their duties safely.

Course duration. One day for 8 delegates.

Practical site requirements. Classroom only

Pre-requisites. Valid, full COSS / IWA competence

PPE. Not required

Trainer requirements. A  qualified COSS Trainer.
