Course Aims

After training, operators should be able to carry out their work in a safe manner and know their limitations.

Who is this course suitable for?

This course is designed for people new to chainsaw use and those who wish to obtain the Certificate of Competence Test in Chainsaw Operations.

Course Objectives

Following completion of the course candidates will have been trained in:

  • Chainsaw maintenance
  • Safety procedures
  • Use of protective clothing (PPE)
  • Cross cutting felled timber
  • Stacking, felling techniques for trees between 200 mm (8") & 380 mm (15")
  • Snedding & de-limbing
  • Taking down of hung-up trees using hand tools

This leads to assessment in NPTC Level 2 Award in Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-cutting and the Award in Felling and Processing Trees up to 380mm (Formerly recognised as NPTC CS30 and CS31.)
